When I found out about Gatsby Jam, a game jam celebrating The Great Gatsby leaving copyright, I knew I wanted to make a video about it. What that video was … I didn’t know yet. I initially thought it would be something highbrow about adapting book themes… Gatsby’s imagery… something literary.

Then I sat down with the creators of Gatsby Jam and talked about what they had made. Almost immediately, I found the thread that I needed to pull on: copyright law. And that’s how I tricked video game fans into watching a video about two topics that are the polar opposite of visually arresting: classic literature and copyright.
